USING NATURES BOUNTY AND YOUR KIDS CREATIVITY TO DECORATE FOR THE HOLIDAYS
The holiday season is nearly upon us and Thanksgiving is just around the corner. Why not get a jump on decorating this year and let the kids do some of the fancy work! There is nothing sweeter than home made decorations at the Thanksgiving table. You can even find some of your art supplies for free in the great outdoors. Here are three ideas to help you get started:
- Forage for pinecones – Pack a picnic and take a day trip to a nearby park or forest area to collect pinecones. While you are there, look for pine needles, twigs, leaves and other natural objects that you can use to adorn a center peice or art project.
- Colors of Fall - Soon the leaves will begin to turn and we will be surrounded by the hues of fall. Keep a look out for fallen leaves in shades of orange, red and brown. You can collect and use them to decorate a paper wreath or even as an accent for your cheese platter.
- A Cornucopia of Thanks – Thanksgiving reminds us that there is so much in life to be thankful for, especially good food! Use real fruits and vegetables arranged in bowls or baskets as centerpeices and other decorative peices. Heirloom tomatoes, persimmons, mandarin oranges, nuts and squash make for lovely combinations of fall colors. Let the kids get creative while arranging them for you.
